Our Heritage

     Cartecay Baptist Church began in 1988 as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay.  Our first church meeting was held at Woodrings Apple House, with 5 people attending a bible study held by Rev. Clayton Brothers.  In 1992, The "Builders for Christ" Christian volunteers helped build the facilities that we still have today.

     Cartecay Baptist was organized as a cooperating Southern Baptist church and is a member of the Mountaintown Baptist Association, the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, having been affiliated with them from our

first year.

     We were constituted as a church after meeting for about a year in temporary quarters in the Cartecay Community. For  Twenty-two years, Cartecay Baptist Church has ministered to people in Cartecay and the surrounding area.

     Only eternity will declare the positive influence our church has had in Gilmer County, the State of Georgia, and even around the world through our perpetual commitment to missions and evangelism.
